Kyiv will change rules for terrace and summer area placement
Kyiv plans to introduce new rules for the placement of terraces and summer areas near restaurants, bars, and other public dining venues. This is reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to the draft decision of the Kyiv City Council.
According to the document, three types of areas will be defined in Kyiv:
- Summer area: located outdoors and consists of tables, chairs, and umbrellas. Such areas can function throughout the year, but on certain streets - from April 1 to November 15.
- Open (seasonal) area: such an area is located outdoors under canopies or on verandas, without an enclosed space.
- Closed year-round area: this area is built from lightweight structures without a foundation and is intended for use throughout the year.

Placing such areas will be prohibited on certain streets in the center of Kyiv, including Verkhniy Val, Voznesenskyi Descent, Sichovykh Striltsiv, Yaroslaviv Val, and others.
The document also outlines several requirements for the placement of open areas. In particular, they should not obstruct pedestrian movement and should not affect the architectural appearance of buildings. There is also a requirement for the use of natural materials for furniture and a ban on installing stages, estrades, grills, and barbecues.
