The salt mine in the Dolynskyi area of the Kalush district of Ivano-Frankivsk region plans to resume salt extraction. This is one of the oldest deposits in Ukraine where salt has been mined since the 10th century.

The mayor of the Dolynska territorial community Ivan Dyryv reported this.

The Dolyn salt deposit is one of the oldest in Ukraine. Salt mining here began as early as the 10th century. By the mid-20th century, the Dolyn salt production plant was one of the largest enterprises in the city.

The mayor stated that work is currently underway to resume salt extraction.

'These are not just promises, but concrete steps: active work is ongoing on the development project of the Dolyn deposit, and, importantly, a thorough environmental impact assessment is being conducted. This reflects a responsible approach that takes into account environmental standards and the preservation of the natural balance', noted Ivan Dyryv.

What is known about the project

The official reported that specialists from the State Scientific Research and Design Institute of Basic Chemistry 'NIOKHIM' are involved in developing the project solution for the future salt production plant.

The mayor reminded that the special permit for the extraction of rock salt (halite) was won in 2023 by the Kharkiv company 'Planeta Comfort'.

'The head of this company has taken on the task with remarkable seriousness and meticulousness, which instills optimism about the future of Dolyn salt. His vision and dedication to the project are key factors in this revival', stated Ivan Dyryv.

Restoring salt extraction in Dolyna, the mayor believes, is not just an economic project, but a chance for Dolyna to regain its rightful place on the map of Ukraine's salt mining industry.
