Direct negotiations between Ukraine and Russia

Paula Pinho from the European Commission noted that future direct negotiations between Ukraine and Russia may take place with the involvement of Europe and the USA, as the US president informed several European leaders about his talks with Putin. This is considered a positive step made possible by the joint efforts of European leaders, including Ursula von der Leyen, in establishing direct contact with the USA regarding the conflict in Ukraine and a ceasefire.

'It has been agreed that direct negotiations between Ukraine and Russia will take place with the involvement of European partners and the USA. We will see where exactly these negotiations should take place,'

Paula Pinho also expressed the possibility of EU and US cooperation regarding the imposition of sanctions against Russia. She emphasized that the decision to introduce the 17th package of sanctions will depend on 'the progress made in the coming days' and that there was no changed position of the European Union.

'The exact dates for the implementation of these sanctions will depend on the progress made in the coming days. At the same Time, we continue to work on the next package of sanctions, as announced by President von der Leyen last week,'

Overall, the information about the upcoming negotiations and the potential agreement on sanctions indicates attempts to resolve the conflict in Ukraine through diplomatic and international cooperation mechanisms.
