Ukrainian gas consumers have been informed about the payment rules for the maintenance of gas networks in residential buildings (the third gas bill). The cost of the service depends on a number of factors.

What you need to know about payment for maintenance

The company noted that according to the order in the law 'On housing and communal services', the payment for the distribution of natural gas, which is paid by all owners of properties connected to gas, does not include expenses for repairs and maintenance of building communications. Thus, the tariff includes inspection, repairs, and modernization of the gas distribution system and its equipment up to the enters of the buildings.

Meanwhile, the costs of maintaining communications are the separate responsibility of their owners, co-owners, and managers.

• Maintenance of gas pipelines in shared ownership

Types of gas network inspections that are conducted in apartment buildings at the expense of owners and co-owners include: Maintenance of gas pipelines in shared ownership. This refers to gas pipelines located outside of apartments, in stairwells, and on the facades of buildings. After the inspection, the total cost of inspecting the gas pipelines is proportionally distributed among the owners of the gasified apartments.

The more apartments are available and the shorter the length of communications, the cheaper the cost of work per apartment will be. This year, the lowest inspection cost for shared gas pipelines per apartment is 100 UAH. However, in homes with a small number of apartments and an extensive system of building gas pipelines from Soviet times, the inspection may amount to 900 UAH. However, this amount must be paid once every three or five years. Thus, it is not a monthly payment.

The maintenance of gas appliances and gas pipelines in apartments is carried out directly in the home of the gas consumer who has signed a separate contract. The cost of the work will depend on the number of gas appliances. For instance, if it concerns a gas stove, cleaning and adjustment will cost 360 UAH.

• Maintenance of a private house

Specialists in private houses check gas appliances, external and internal gas pipelines. The cost of the service will be the same as for the inspection of appliances in multi-apartment buildings. The entire payment falls on the shoulders of the owner of private housing.
