Explosions in Kursk, Belgorod, Voronezh: Russia claims massive drone and missile attack.

On August 11, 2024, Russian border regions, including the Kursk, Voronezh, and Belgorod oblasts, became the target of aerial attacks. In the Kursk region, air defense systems intercepted a missile, fragments of which hit a residential building, resulting in injuries to 13 people, two of them in critical condition, and several cars were damaged. In the Voronezh region, 15 unmanned aerial vehicles were destroyed, and buildings and private houses sustained damage. An attack on the city of Shebekino in the Belgorod region led to a high-rise building catching fire, damage to windows in private houses, and a power outage in parts of the city. Villages like Malinivka and Berezivka also suffered damage to buildings and vehicles. The Russian authorities reacted to these events by imposing a counterterrorism operation in the Kursk, Bryansk, and Belgorod oblasts, citing a threat from Ukraine.
