Ukrainians are facing large-scale resettlement after the war: in which cities life will boil.

Alexander Gladun, Deputy Director of the Institute of Demography and Social Research named after M. Ptukha of the NAS of Ukraine, shared that Ukraine is preparing for a global reform of its population placement system after the war. This reform will cover six key cities: Kyiv, Lviv, Odesa, Dnipro, Kharkiv, and Donetsk, which is currently under occupation.
In the post-war period, it is important to make strategic decisions regarding the regions bordering Russia.
Particular attention should be paid to the protection of people during economic and production activities, taking into account the concept of 'demographic capacity of the region'. Large urban agglomerations, such as Shanghai in China, influence the development of surrounding areas, creating new jobs and attracting investments.
Challenges and Opportunities
Among the problems facing Ukraine are transportation provision, social infrastructure, and waste disposal in large cities. The Ministry of Community Development and Infrastructure is considering the possibility of creating buffer zones and relocating industries to address these issues. It is also important to consider labor immigration to support economic growth.
In the future, Ukraine is set to undergo significant restructuring of its population placement system after the conflict ends. Making strategic decisions and ensuring the protection of people while developing the economy and creating new jobs is crucial. Additionally, it is important to carefully address infrastructure issues and preserve the ecology for future generations.
A representative of the Institute of Demography and Social Research shared plans for the reform of the population placement system in Ukraine after the war, which includes the development of key cities, protection of people, and attention to infrastructure and ecology. The authorities are considering possible solutions to the problems that large cities face in the context of post-conflict reconstruction.Read also
