Ukraine sharply increased the production and export of sunflower oil.

In Ukraine, the production and export of sunflower oil in the 2023-2024 marketing year exceeded the pre-war period figures. According to the "Ukroliaprom" association, oil production volumes increased by 13.7% to 6.6 million tons, and exports increased by 17% to 6.2 million tons.
The reason for the increase in oil production was the increased volume of sunflower seed processing. In the current marketing year, 14.8 million tons of seeds were processed, which is 1.3 million tons more than in the previous year.

Ukrainian producers also achieved success in processing other oilseed crops. Soybean oil and meal production also increased by 22% and 29%, respectively. In total, 17.4 million tons of oilseed crops were processed.

"Ukroliaprom" experts predict changes in the structure of oilseed crop production for the next marketing year. A decrease in sunflower production is expected, but an increase in soybean production due to the expansion of sowing areas.
However, it is worth noting that the drought that occurred in the summer of 2024 will negatively affect the harvest of late grains and oilseeds, especially corn, sunflower, and soybeans.
