The European Union continues to provide temporary protection to Ukrainian citizens

The European Commissioner for Home Affairs and Migration, Magnus Brunner, stated that the EU continues to provide temporary protection to Ukrainians and is actively developing a strategy for their return to their homeland to participate in the restoration of Ukraine. He emphasized that this is a necessary step in the process of supporting the country.

'Paths, a roadmap, because Ukrainians certainly need the return of their people for the reconstruction of the country, and this is what we are discussing and have discussed with Deputy Prime Minister Oleksiy Chernyshov,' Brunner emphasized.

Repatriation of Ukrainian refugees to Ukraine

European officials acknowledge the complexity of providing support to Ukrainian refugees and the importance of planning their repatriation. Ukraine relies on significant human resources for post-war reconstruction, so the issue of returning citizens is critically important for the future of the country.

According to the European Commission, by the beginning of 2025, the number of individuals receiving temporary protection in EU countries reached approximately 4.3 million. This indicates the large scale of migration processes stemming from the war in Ukraine.

After the war in Ukraine, significant migration processes emerged, which continue to impact the European Union. The EU is actively considering opportunities for the return of Ukrainian refugees to their homeland to participate in the reconstruction of the country, which is an important step in the process of supporting it.
