US presidential candidate Donald Trump, who previously criticized cryptocurrency, has stated that he will make the country a global leader in cryptocurrency and introduce more lenient regulations for this sector.
If we do not adopt cryptocurrency and bitcoin technology, China, other countries will do it. They will dominate, and we cannot allow China to dominate. They have already made too much progress.
He said this during the Bitcoin 2024 conference, Reuters reports. Trump criticized attempts by Democrats to regulate this sector.
Trump, in particular, proposes to create a presidential advisory council on cryptocurrencies and a national 'reserve' of bitcoins, using the cryptocurrency currently owned by the US government, which was significantly seized as a result of law enforcement actions.
Never sell your bitcoin. If I am elected, the policy of my administration, the US, will be to preserve 100% of all bitcoins owned or acquired by the US government in the future.
Earlier in 2021, Donald Trump called cryptocurrency a 'fraud'.
