It became known how the drought affected the harvest of late grains.

Senior investment analyst at Dragon Capital, Natalya Shpyhotska, stated that the drought will significantly affect the yield of late grains and oilseeds, particularly corn, sunflower, and soybeans. She noted this during the conference "Drought and War: What will the crop be like this year, and how will it affect the economy".
According to Shpyhotska, Ukraine has been experiencing heat and drought since 2024. The amount of precipitation over 8 months has decreased by 6% compared to last year. The drought has affected unevenly, mainly impacting the eastern and southern regions, which has affected the yield of both early and late grain crops.
According to analytical company data, the yield of early grains and oilseeds has fallen slightly. The decrease in yield was 1% for wheat, 7% for barley, and 15% for rapeseed.
However, the drought has significantly affected late crops. By the beginning of September, farmers had harvested only about 20% of soybeans, 15% of sunflowers, and less than 5% of corn.
According to Shpyhotska, the yield of soybeans decreased by 25% to 1.9 t/ha compared to the previous year, while the yield of sunflowers fell by 18% to 1.8 t/ha. It is forecasted that the yield of late crops may improve in the central and northern regions but will still be lower than last year's.
Overall, Ukraine is expected to see a 10% decrease in the yield of grains and oilseeds to 74 million tons. It is also forecasted that agro-product exports will decrease by 12-15% in the 2024-2025 marketing year.
