USA has overtaken China in trade with the leading EU country - media.

According to data from the German Statistics Office, in the first half of 2024, the United States became Germany's largest trading partner, surpassing China. This was made possible by the stable US economy and Berlin's efforts to reduce dependency on Beijing.
For the past eight years, China has been Germany's primary trading partner.
According to Reuters, the total volume of imports and exports between Germany and the world's largest economy from January to June amounted to about €127 billion, while with China, this figure was €122 billion.
Lola Machleid, a foreign trade expert at the German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DIHK), noted that the stability of the US economy helped increase Germany's exports.
Germany's exports to the US increased by 3.3% to nearly €81 billion, while trade with China decreased by almost 3% to just over €48 billion.
Imports from China decreased by almost 8% to €73.5 billion, while imports from the US decreased by 3.4% to €46.1 billion.
"Given the current geopolitical uncertainty and the uncertainty of further economic developments not only in the United States and China but also here in Germany, it is difficult to predict how this neck-and-neck race will develop," Machleid said.
