On August 12, 2024, a US Senate delegation visited Kyiv and met with the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky. During the meeting, issues of further support for Ukraine and new legislative initiatives were discussed.US Senator Richard Blumenthal announced the preparation of a new bill "Help Ukraine". "We propose a new bill which will be called 'Help Ukraine'. It will secure bipartisan support, and we would like it to be enshrined at the level of law, not just at the presidential decision level," noted the senator.President Zelensky wrote about the meeting on his Telegram channel: "Today I met with a US Senate delegation. We discussed what is needed for a just end to this war, particularly our need for long-range weapons. Thank you, America, for supporting our defense!"Republican Senator Lindsey Graham, who was also part of the delegation, highly praised the actions of Ukrainian military in the Kursk region. "What do I think about the Kursk region [presence of Ukrainian forces there]? It's bold, brilliant, simply beautiful. Keep up the good work," he said.Graham also called on President Joe Biden's administration to provide Ukraine with all the necessary weapons to win the war. He paid special attention to the issue of F-16 fighters: "When it comes to F-16 fighters, everything is taking too long. They are already here in Ukraine, let them [Ukrainians] use them, let's train Ukrainian pilots."The American senator emphasized that after two and a half years of full-scale war, Ukraine not only stands but thrives. He expressed admiration for the strength of the Ukrainian army and stated that he "welcomes the day when Ukraine becomes a member of NATO".
