Sikorski: Russia must be held accountable for the war in Ukraine both legally and financially.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Poland, Radosław Sikorski, emphasized that Russia must be held accountable for its aggression against Ukraine. According to him, the main goal of Polish foreign policy is to resolve the war in eastern Ukraine, as it directly concerns Poland's security.

'We seek not just a ceasefire, but a lasting and just peace in accordance with the principles of the UN. It must be a peace achieved through force, as that is the only peace that Russia will respect. An agreement with the Kremlin will be valid as long as the Russian elite fears the consequences of its violation,' Sikorski stated.

The Minister also believes that sanctions against Russia help weaken the Russian war machine.

'Russia must bear legal and financial responsibility for its aggression against Ukraine, for war crimes and against humanity, including the abduction of thousands of children, systematic attacks on civilians and energy infrastructure,' the minister stressed.

According to Sikorski, the outcome of the war between Russia and Ukraine will have significant implications for regional security for a long Time to come.

'This will be a decisive moment for Belarus, which will have to choose between Russia and independence. It will also affect the European ambitions of Moldova, Georgia, and Armenia. And it will influence the foreign policy of key partners in Central Asia, who are targeting Moscow and Beijing but seek closer ties with Europe,' Sikorski noted.

Sikorski emphasized that Russian imperialism is an enemy for Poland, and this is the official policy of Poland towards Putin's regime.
