Russian drones in Ukraine: the danger of 'swarm attacks'
Russia has adopted a new strategy for shelling in Ukraine, shifting from mass missile strikes to the use of drones, such as 'shaheds' and other UAVs. They are now employing 'swarm attacks', where drones identify weaknesses, distract from defense systems, and create chaos in the air. This is just a preliminary step towards a potential ballistic missile strike, which will be much harder to stop.
According to Kovalenko, Russia has increased the number of drones in its arsenals, while Ukraine is expanding air target interception systems. The number of Russian drones used against Ukraine has increased eightfold this year compared to the previous one, indicating the active use of drones in the conflict with Ukraine.
Russian drones are becoming an increasing threat to Ukraine, as their use in 'swarm attacks' can become an effective tool for the Russian authorities in the region. Ukraine is forced to strengthen its defense and drone interception systems to protect itself from new threats.
