The Russian Federation in Vovchansk employs Lebanese militants' tactics and digs tunnels – AFU.

The Russian forces occupying Vovchansk are using the "underground moles" tactic, creating tunnels between basements for covert movements. This was stated by the spokesman of the operational-tactical group "Kharkiv" Vitaliy Saraniev.
They had previously used this method in Vodiyiivka. Now some propose to include individuals who will build underground communications in Russia's assault units.
I cannot say how widespread this practice is in Vovchansk. However, nevertheless, there are locations where the enemy will try to move between houses, creating underground corridors from basement to basement. Depending on what remains there.
Saraniev also stated that the Russian military uses other underground communications for movements, and Ukrainian fighters target them as soon as they are detected.
In October 2024, active combat actions continue in Vovchansk in the Kharkiv region, particularly on the border sections. Russian troops regularly shell settlements in the Kharkiv region using artillery and aviation. The Ukrainian army conducts defensive operations and counterattacks to liberate occupied territories. These shellings cause significant damage to civilian infrastructure and result in casualties. The situation remains tense, but Ukrainian troops continue to resist and hold their positions in Vovchansk.
Previously, it was known that Russian occupiers plan to bring the Chechen special forces "Akhmat" to Vovchansk. However, this is rather a PR stunt.
Recall that Vovchansk in the Kharkiv region, once a flourishing city, has turned into ruins due to constant shelling by Russian occupiers. Photographers Konstantin and Vlada Liberov published striking drone photographs that show the scale of the destruction.
It is also known that in the summer of 2024, the occupiers executed four Ukrainian soldiers on the territory of the aggregate plant in Vovchansk.
