Negotiations Between Ukraine and Russia in Istanbul

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky participated in the summit of the European Political Community in Albania, where he called on the world to impose new sanctions against Russia if the negotiations in Istanbul turn out to be manipulation. Ukrainian high-ranking officials also confirmed their readiness for a ceasefire and conflict resolution.

'If it turns out that the Russian delegation is just a theater, then the world must react. There must be a strong response, including sanctions against the Russian energy sector and banks. Pressure must continue to build until real progress is achieved,' said the President of Ukraine.

The President's Office reported on a trilateral meeting of Ukraine, Turkey, and the USA, during which mechanisms for achieving peace were discussed. The parties confirmed their readiness for a ceasefire at the initial stage for a peaceful resolution of the conflict.

Conditions for Achieving Peace

Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov emphasized the need for a complete cessation of hostilities for at least 30 days and the execution of humanitarian actions, such as the return of Ukrainian children and the exchange of prisoners of war on the basis of 'all for all'.

Currently, the first direct negotiations between the delegations of Ukraine and Russia in three years are ongoing in Istanbul. The Ukrainian side supports a complete ceasefire, while Russia is trying to move the meeting to a bilateral format without the participation of the USA and Turkey.
