The pilot of a passenger plane died right at the helm during a flight from the US to Turkey.

The pilot of a plane flying from the United States to Turkey died right at the helm for unknown reasons. This is reported by the BBC.
According to the BBC, 59-year-old captain Ilchekhin Pehlivan became unwell during the flight. During the fall, an attempt was made to provide first aid, but unfortunately, it was unsuccessful. Therefore, the second pilot and the assistant pilot took control of the plane. However, the captain died before landing. The Airbus A350 landed in New York almost eight hours after taking off from Seattle.
Currently, the cause of the pilot's death remains unknown. In March, he underwent a medical examination that did not reveal any health problems. Pilots are required to undergo medical examinations every 12 months. Pilots over the age of 40 need to renew their medical certificate every six months.
The deceased Ilchekhin Pehlivan had been working for Turkish Airlines since 2007.

One of the known cases when a pilot died during a flight occurred in 2016 on board American Airlines flight 550. The Airbus A320, flying from Phoenix to Boston, had two pilots. Captain Michael Johnston died during the flight of a heart attack, leaving the plane's control in the hands of the first officer. The first officer took over the controls and safely landed the plane in New York State. There were 147 passengers and 5 crew members on board, and no one was endangered.
This case emphasizes the importance of always having two pilots in the cockpit, as well as the high level of crew training for unforeseen situations.
