Vegetable prices in Ukrainian supermarkets vary
According to monitoring by Minfin, there is a significant diversity of prices for basic vegetables in large supermarket chains in Ukraine. Some types of vegetables have become more expensive since September, while prices for others have hardly changed.
Cucumbers:
- Regular cucumbers cost an average of 72.69 UAH/kg (compared to 66.37 UAH/kg in September).
- Smooth cucumbers are sold for 93.03 UAH/kg (compared to 84.63 UAH/kg).
- Long cucumbers can be bought for 74.99 UAH/kg.
- Cornichons cost 69.90 UAH/kg.
- Short-fruit cucumbers are sold for 69.80 UAH/kg.
Tomatoes:
- Red tomatoes cost an average of 84.00 UAH/kg (compared to 73.39 UAH/kg in September).
- Pink tomatoes are sold for 87.35 UAH/kg (compared to 77.56 UAH/kg).
- Sliwka tomatoes can be bought for 71.27 UAH/kg (a significant increase from 59.25 UAH/kg).
Potatoes:
- Regular potatoes cost an average of 26.90 UAH/kg (compared to 22.15 UAH/kg in September).
- Young potatoes are sold for 39.90 UAH/kg (a significant increase from 20.20 UAH/kg).
- Pink potatoes cost 25.80 UAH/kg (a slight increase from 25.41 UAH/kg).
Cabbage:
- Young cabbage costs an average of 65.67 UAH/kg (a slight decrease from 67.32 UAH/kg in September).
- White cabbage is sold for 30.82 UAH/kg (compared to 28.22 UAH/kg).
The highest prices for most vegetables are observed in Megamarket, while the lowest are in Metro and Auchan. For example, in Megamarket smooth cucumbers cost 99.60 UAH/kg, whereas in Metro they are 88.30 UAH/kg.
Experts believe that the rise in vegetable prices may be linked to seasonal factors and the general economic situation in the country.
