Former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin shared his thoughts on the approaches of US President Donald Trump in relations with Russia. According to him, Trump has no intention of making deals with Russian leader Putin.
Klimkin's views on Trump's strategy towards Russia
Klimkin believes that it is currently difficult to predict changes in Trump's policy towards Russia. However, he emphasized that the American leader does not seek to make compromises on the terms proposed by Putin.
'Trump feels quite strong and is in no rush to agree to Putin's terms. Of course, we cannot agree with such a position, as we feel the consequences of war every day. But Trump views the entire situation as a geopolitical game'
'But he looks at it from a different perspective, that is a fact. Maybe that is good. We have worked together for many years, although we have not yet achieved the desired result. But we are on the right path,' he commented.
Klimkin also emphasized that positive steps from the United States could be expected in the future, which would not necessarily be limited to the supply of the Patriot air defense system. Earlier he expressed outrage at Trump's reaction to Putin and the potential consequences of sanctions for the Russian economy.
According to former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin, US President Donald Trump demonstrates a strong position in negotiations with Russian leader Putin, refusing to make deals on his terms. He also hopes for positive steps from the United States, which could have additional consequences for the Russian economy.
