Former President of Taiwan Urges the US to Continue Supporting Ukraine.

Former Taiwan President Tsai Ing-wen stated that the US should focus on providing assistance to Ukraine, despite the potential danger of a Chinese invasion of the island.
This was reported by Politico.
Such statements were made at the International Security Forum in Halifax after US Indo-Pacific Command Commander Admiral Samuel Paparo noted that supplying weapons to Ukraine affects the readiness of US forces to prepare for a possible conflict in Asia.
'They should do everything possible to help Ukrainians. We [Taiwan] still have Time,' Tsai emphasized during her speech at the forum.
The former head of Taiwan noted that Ukraine's victory would be the most effective means of deterring future aggression in the world. According to her, although Taiwan significantly depends on American weapons and military aid from the US, supporting Ukraine will help keep China from attacking across the strait.
Taiwanese officials reported an 80% increase in defense spending over the past eight years, reaching a record 19 billion dollars in 2024. The island expects to receive 66 new F-16V fighters, which are set to arrive by the end of the year.
