For already the fourth year, the war between Russia and Ukraine is affecting security in Europe. The fundamental principles of security in Europe and cooperation with transatlantic partners have been put at risk. The US no longer guarantees security to Europe, which helps Russia regain its influence in the region. European countries find themselves in a state of strategic uncertainty.
The Kremlin is already reacting to signs of weakness in the alliance and is adjusting its plans. The first steps of the new US administration raise concerns. It seems that the US sees Russia as a potential ally, while its European partners are viewed as a source of problems.
Future Europe must reconsider its security architecture and develop mechanisms for collective security.
