Red turn signals and certification: expert explains the nuances of registering American cars in Ukraine.

Nuances of registering American cars in Ukraine
Owners of cars from the USA must consider the peculiarities of certification in Ukraine. This procedure differs from the certification of European cars due to the technical differences of American vehicles.
'American cars generally do not meet our requirements. They have red turn signals, speedometers in miles, climate control in Fahrenheit, and headlights adjusted differently than those of European cars - they blind drivers. There may also be incorrect markings on the glass or unacceptable tinting. In general, there are many nuances,' the expert explained.
However, these features do not hinder obtaining certification. The expert notes that it is beneficial for the government and car owners to have certification, so everyone pays more money for the procedure.
In reality, the mandatory red turn signals on American cars is a myth. In the USA, cars are allowed to have turn signals of any color. Each manufacturer has its own rules regarding this issue. For example, German brands adapt their cars to the market, while Nissan sells cars with yellow turn signals.
Certification for American cars is well-developed, and hundreds of cars have received their numbers in Ukraine without problems. As long as there is no mandatory technical inspection in the country, the color of turn signals is not given much attention.
It is worth remembering that you cannot drive in Ukraine with original American car plates. If there is a delay in registration due to repairs, you can repair the car and submit a request for long-term repairs to the MREO.
Certification is conducted in service centers, and the cost depends on the specific vehicle. These nuances are part of the process of handling cars from the USA, which includes customs clearance and registration. All these details have already been worked out and do not create significant problems for owners of American cars.
