Aliyev refused to meet with Putin's envoy - what is known
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev refused to meet with Putin's envoy and sent him home empty-handed. Azerbaijan has no intention of stopping its demand for the Kremlin to acknowledge its guilt for the AZAL plane crash and the mistreatment of its citizens in Moscow's pretrial detention center.
This was reported by the Minval agency.

What Putin's envoy was counting on

According to the agency, Russian Minister of Emergency Situations Alexander Kurenkov arrived in Baku for a meeting of emergency ministers. However, Kurenkov intended to hold an informal meeting with the President of Azerbaijan.

According to sources, the Azerbaijani side made it clear right away that there would be no meeting, forcing Kurenkov to shorten his visit.

According to journalists, the condition of the Azerbaijani side for Russia to acknowledge the fact of the AZAL plane crash in December was not accepted.

During Kurenkov's stay in Baku, a local court rejected a request from Russian journalists to change the preventive measure.

It is worth noting that Azerbaijan decided to cancel all cultural events involving Russian participation.

It was also reported that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky had a conversation with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, where they discussed the tension between Baku and Moscow.

The meeting of Putin's envoy with the Azerbaijani side did not take place due to the Kremlin's attempts to avoid acknowledging its own responsibility for the tragedy of the downed plane and the beatings of citizens by Ukrainian and Russian prisoners in pretrial detention. The tense relations between Baku and Moscow only confirm that the conflict between the two countries continues.
